Seven months into her four-year job as the D-G of the World Trade Organisation, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iwealais contemplating walking away.

According to a Bloomberg report, the former finance minister is feeling frustrated.

The report stated the historical resistance and power play in the world body have made the 67-year-old Afrocrat’s job difficult.

According to the report, five trade officials, who declined to be identified, confirmed the decision.

The officials said she has repeatedly told ambassadors and staff that she could easily walk away from the job, reminding them she has not bought any furniture for her temporary home in Geneva.

Some have concluded she’s quitting to contest the 2023 presidency in Nigeria.

She said the speculation is ridiculous ad false.

“I just got here. It’ a very exciting job, and I am trying to have some success,” she said.

The World Bank former director  had a tough time securing the job, despite her overwhelming qualification and generous support from around the world.

The US, under former President Donald Trump, used its veto and blocked her in every way possible, until Joe Biden won the2020 election, and endorsed her for the job.
