A former Deputy Governor of Gombe State, John Yoriyo, alongside 14 other chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The former deputy governor and thousands of his supporters were received into the PDP by the state party Chairman,  Major-General Abnor Kwaskebe (retired), on Saturday in Gombe State.

Speaking at the ceremony, Yoriyo, a former deputy to ex-Governor Danjuma Goje, kicked against the running of the APC in Gombe, describing PDP as the best political party.

“It is obvious that the APC has failed in Nigeria, especially in the area of security,” he said.

“I was in the APC and I have seen everything that is happening, nothing encouraging. PDP is the best place to be.

“There was nothing like democracy under APC in Gombe. Nobody knows what is happening, we were ignorant, we are just being ruled,” he added.

On his part, Kwaskebe stated that the APC chieftians have returned to their home.

We are glad to receive those that left the party, thinking that the PDP had collapsed. They are now coming back home,” he said.
