The Military Task Force in Plateau State, on Tuesday intercepted a Toyota Camry conveying 248 compressed blocks parcels of illicit drugs known as Marijuana.

The Taskforce code named Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), also arrested two suspects among which is one retired Soldier conveying the illicit drugs.

The Soldier who gave his name as Essen Friday said he retired as a Corporal and confessed to be the owner of the Camry, while the driver of the vehicle gave his name as Ibrahim Ali.

The feat was achieved by operatives of the OPSH attached to Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.

According to the Chief of Staff Operation Safe Haven, Brig. Gen. Amos Egbajule, who represented the Commander of the Taskforce, Maj. Gen. Ibrahim Ali, the Camry was searched during which the 248 compressed blocks of cannabis also known as “wee-wee”, were discovered in different compartments of the vehicle.

“Our initial investigations have revealed that the consignment was taken from Ondo and heading to Yola for delivery”, Egbajule said.

However, the driver Ibrahim Ali said he was paid N60,000 for the job and has been in the business for the past four years, adding that hardship pushed him into the menace.

Also confessing, the retired Soldier, Essen Friday, said he was paid N200,000 to use his car for onward delivery of the “wee-wee” to Yola.

Our correspondent reports that though the retired Soldier identified himself as a Soldier, it did not sway the operatives of OPSH from a thorough search of the vehicle leading to the discovery of the illicit drugs tucked in every hidden part of the Camry.
