In the ongoing Chieftaincy title revalidation process in his Warri kingdom, Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, has disrobed one of the chiefs (name withheld).
The afflicted is no longer a chief in the Itsekiri nation as a result of the incident.
The chief had come to Ode-Isekiri, the ancestral home of the Itsekiri nation in Warri south local government area, for the revalidation exercise when the monarch refused to decorate him with the traditional bead that makes him a chief, denying him the Chieftaincy status in the kingdom, according to Vanguard.
It would be recalled that the monarch dissolved the Warri Council of Chiefs around two weeks ago and began the process of readmission, with Iyatsere Chief Johnson Amatserunleghe emerging as the most senior Chief and Chairman of the Warri Council of Chiefs.
In the previous two weeks, the Itsekiri nation’s ancestral home, Ode Itsekiri, has been undergoing readmission into the Council of Chiefs.
Chief Yaya Pessu, Chief Brown Mene, Chief G. T. Grant, and Chief Felix Esisi were among those readmitted to Ode Itsekiri yesterday.
Yesterday was the last day of the exercise. However, Vanguard learned that some chiefs who were unable to arrive on their designated day made reasons. ” They’ll be taken care of as soon as they arrive. Some called to explain why they would be unavailable, according to a source.
