A Chief Magistrate Court 4 in Yola, Adamawa State has arraigned a man, Zakaria Waye for allegedly brutalizing his wife, Ruth Zakaria and inflicting her with injuries.

It was gathered that the accused from Girei town in Girei Local Government Area of Adamawa, allegedly broke his wife’s lower jaw and damaged her left eye during a quarrel that happened on Wednesday, August 25.

The victim, Ruth, could not talk when she was brought to court on Thursday, August 26, as she had undergone surgery to stitch and wire her broken jaw.

It was further gathered that Zakaria constantly beat his wife, sometimes in the presence of their children whenever misunderstanding crops up between them.

However, Zakaria pleaded not guilty to the charges of causing a grievious hurt among other offences.

He told the court that his wife should be blamed for the trouble in the family, alleging that she held his private part hence he had to beat her.

The court presided by Magistrate Abdulrazak Adamu, ordered that the accused be remanded at Yola Correctional Centre and adjourned the matter to November 22, 2021, for mention.
