President Muhammadu Buhari
President Muhammadu Buhari has reacted to the death of legendary musician Sir Victor Uwaifo, who died at the age of 80.
The president in a condolence message by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, in Abuja said the deceased left a legacy of successes in many areas of life, including academia and administration.
He described the music legend as one who portrayed life through his music and lived for many.
“He was the winner of a gold disc in Africa for his song, “Joromi’’, released in 1965 at the age of 24.
“The glory that Uwaifo brought to Nigeria through his international tours “and the active role he played in national development will always be remembered.
“I pray for the soul of the departed musician, writer, sculptor, musical instrument inventor and university lecture and I believe the entire country, particularly the music industry, would sorely miss him,” the statement said.
