Weekly market and fuelling stations across Zamfara remain shuttered until further notice, and those open now have a cap on the amount they can sell Zamfara government has directed.Gov. Bello Matawalle, already overwhelmed in spite of the best he believes he is giving the insecurity challenge, gave the order as part of the effort to reduce banditry in the state.

The only exception now are markets and stations in the state capital and LGA headquarters.

And no station should sell fuel more than N10, 000 to a single customer.

The governor also banned the sale of petrol in jerry-cans and by the roadside (black market) as part of the measures to stop the supply of fuel to bandits.

In the long list of security measure is also the ban of livestock movement and commercial motorcycling between 7 pm and 7am.. Foodstuff and its destination must be disclosed.

“But those who render essential services, including health personnel, security men and journalists who identify themselves are allowed to ride motorcycles or tricycles beyond the stated time,” he said.

An implementation committee will be put in place for this.
