The 22-year-old Kylian Mbappe has undoubtedly emerged as one of the finest prospects in the world football today.
The exploits of the France international which have left many of the European football club giants desiring to have his signature has seen Real Madrid made him their top transfer target this summer.
And while Madrid are eager bring Mbappe to the Bernabeu, PSG have stood firm over the 22-year-old’s availability, even despite his precarious contract situation.
Mbappe who has entered the final year of his current deal with the French giants has been reluctant to reach an agreement for an extension, which means he could leave on a free transfer next summer.
Expectedly, Madrid who have made the former Monaco forward their priority are looking to capitalise on his contract saga with PSG to secure a deal that will bring him to Santiago Bernabeu before the transfer window closes.
Reports reaching National Daily from multiple sources in Spain on Tuesday evening, suggest that Madrid have already opened negotiations with PSG by submitting a €160m (£137m) offer.
However, reports from several French sources are claiming that PSG have turned down Madrid’s approach.
While Mbappe is understood to be keen on a move to Madrid, the Spanish club could struggle to reach an agreement with PSG before the end of the window and would no doubt be prepared to wait to sign the forward on a free transfer next year.
PSG who have significantly strengthened their squad this summer with the arrivals of Lionel Messi, Sergio Ramos, Georginio Wijnaldum, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Achraf Hakimi are leaving nothing behind in their mission for an European title and they are convinced that Mbappe remains pivotal in their above quest
PSG’s mission has seen the French club’s president, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, explaining to Mbappe earlier this month that he had ‘no excuse’ to leave this summer.
I think we have the most competitive team. Now there is no choice for Kylian but to stay here in Paris,’ Al-Khelaifi said.
‘I think everybody knows the future of Kylian, people from Paris and the players.
‘He is a really competitive player. He wants to win, he wants to win trophies, he said it in public.
‘He wanted a competitive team and I think we have got the most competitive in the world. So there is no excuse for him now. He can’t do anything else but stay.’
