Recently, the talented up-and-comer, Demmie Vee has been making headlines for all the wrong reasons, feeding news pages with talk of his separation from Kizz Daniel’s Flyboy Inc.

Now, after finally clearing the air with regards to his relationship with Kizz Daniel, he’s ready to shift the focus back to his music, coming out with a double release: the hypnotic single, “Surulere”, and the Da L.E.S-assisted “When”.

The solo offering, “Surulere” begins with an enchanting beat, before Demmie Vee’s piercing vocals come in. In his usual high tones, Demmie Vee prays for blessings and good fortune in life, not just for himself but so he can help others.

A prayerful number, one that fits in rather perfectly with Demmie Vee’s Hope Never Dies movement, “Surulere” ends with a Yoruba chorus of praise, as the studio bodies sing along to the song’s aspirational hook.

For Demmie Vee’s second release, “When”, he brings a Yoruba twist to the hip-hop track, stepping outside his comfort zone. Produced by Fenesse, “When” sees both Demmie and Da L.E.S bragging about the attention they command.

Thanks to the amazing production work of Izzy Black on “Surulere”, we’d say Demmie Vee’s solo take is by far the better of the two releases, but the rising star does still manage to hold his own outside his afropop comfort zone on “When”.
