The conflicts ravaging the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is getting worse as diverse party structures express their views on the faith of the embattled national chairman, Prince Uche Secondus. The Minority Leader in the House of Representatives, Ndudi Elumelu, on Monday dissociated the PDP Minority Caucus in the House of Representatives from a claimed online meeting of PDP caucus that demanded the resignation Uche Secondus as PDP chairman. The said PDP caucus in the federal House was led by Kingsley Chinda.
Elumelu in a statement on Monday, denied any official meeting of the PDP caucus in the House of Representatives, noting that the claimed meeting was a breach of procedure because it held without the knowledge of the Caucus.
Elumelu declared that the PDP caucus is “working in concert with organs of the party to ensure sustainable resolution of the current challenges that will be in the overall interest of the party and Nigerians.”
The Minority Leader appealed to all party faithfuls, particularly, PDP members in the House of Representatives, to exercise caution and patience as the party continues to address the lingering leadership crisis.
Kingsley Chinda, a loyalist of Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, led the PDP caucus on the online meeting, which, thereafter, ordered Uche Secondus to honourably resign as the party’s national chairman, citing leadership failure.
