P/HARCOURT – There appears to be no end to the crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress (APC), Rivers State chapter as the faction loyal to the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has allegedly blocked Senator Magnus Abe’s supporters from participating in today’s (Saturday) ward congress.
Addressing his teeming supporters on Friday in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital, Abe urged his loyalists to go home and remain Peaceful, adding that their complains would be forwarded to the national leadership of the APC for possible action.
The former Senator, who represented Rivers South East Senatorial district while briefing journalists said every human obstacle on the path of achieving enduring peace in the party would be removed at the appropriate time.
Abe, who regretted that his loyalists, who according to party directives, acquired bank drafts for the party forms, were denied opportunity to get the forms as envisaged. He appealed to them not to go to the venue of the Congress to make trouble and vowed to ensure they will get their rights restored.
“Since they didn’t give you forms, don’t go and waste your time. Remain calm. We will get to where we are going. We will follow the directives of the national leadership of our party.
“It has been my aspiration to nurture an all-inclusive and veritable party that will meet Rivers’ expectations, capable of challenging the ruling party here (Rivers State). If there will be none of such, it will become a disservice, not only to our dear party, but the entire state.
“The division in our party is rather against our entire state, but I remain committed to peace and unity of the APC, and I will not sell out”, he said.
