According to court officials, Igboho should be returned to detention, NEWS DIRECT reports.
“They just finished from court. The wife is to be released this night and Sunday is to remain in custody. The matter was adjourned till Friday,” an official said.
Following his arraignment by the country’s authorities for immigration-related offenses, Sunday Igboho was awaiting his fate at the Cour De’appal De Cotonou, Benin Republic, according to NEWS DIRECT.
On Thursday afternoon, Igboho was transported to court.
According to SaharaReporters, the activist does not want to be extradited to Nigeria.
NEWS DIRECT previously reported that Igboho was apprehended by Benin Republic authorities at Cardinal Bernardin International Airport in Cotonou on Monday night while attempting to fly from the country to Germany.
Two days prior to the raid, Igboho had organized a “Yoruba Nation Rally” in Lagos.
The DSS invaded the house, murdering two persons and detaining 12 others, but Igboho managed to flee.
The agency said Igboho was stockpiling weapons and issued a warrant for his arrest.
Since the raid, the agitator has been on the run.
