Nigerian singer Sound Sultan survived by wife and three children

This Sunday, 11 July 2021, news broke that Nigerian musician Sound Sultan had died at the age of 44.

The singer, real name Olanrewaju Fasasi, has passed away after battling Angioimmunoblastic T-Cell Lymphoma, a rare form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

Dr. Kayode Fasasi spoke on behalf of the whole family in a short statement: “It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our multitalented veteran singer, rapper, songwriter Olanrewaju Fasasi aka Sound Sultan.”

Sound Sultan is survived by his wife, Chichi Morah and three children.

Who is Chichi Morah?

Chichi Morah is the wife of late singer Sound Sultan. The couple wed in 2009 and have since had three children together.

In Dr. Fasasi’s statement, it read: “He is survived by his wife, three children and his siblings. We, his family will appreciate the utmost privacy as we come to grips with this tragic loss.”

Sound Sultan often spoke publicly of what made his marriage with Chichi successful. “My wife does not even like the limelight at all,” Sound Sultan explained, adding: “If she is at an event with me, you would not even know she is my wife, you would just see her as one of the guests with the way she would blend with people. Without me taking all the glory, I think that has helped my marriage.”

Chichi Morah converts as Sound Sultan’s wife

Chichi and Sound Sultan’s love for one another was so strong that she even converted religions for him. She was born Christian, however converted to Islam for Sound Sultan, following their wedding.

“No one force anyone to do a religion. It just happens that she married me and she really…really was in love with the religion herself,” Sound Sultan said of her decision to convert.

Chichi Morah adopted a new Muslim name, Farida Fasasi, once she had converted.

Chichi and Sound Sultan’s children

Together, they have three children. They have two sons and a daughter.

One of Sound Sultan’s sons, Mayowa Fasasi, was born on 26 June 2011. He is currently 10 years old.

The other children are called Bidemi and Zara Fasasi. Sound Sultan often shared updates about the children to Instagram. He most recently shared an Instagram video performing a song with his three children to celebrate Father’s Day.
