The much-anticipated Big Brother Naija: Lockdown Reunion premiered in the late hours of Thursday, June 17, 2021, and since then, it has provided quality entertainment for lovers of the show.
Away from the action and drama, it has also proved that when it comes to providing premium entertainment, no brand on the continent does it quite like MultiChoice.
Since 2006, Big Brother Naija, one of the entertainment company’s top-tier reality TV shows, has been a source of entertainment across the continent. Initially modelled after the Big Brother Africa franchise, it has since developed a life of its own. For five seasons, Big Brother Naija has stood out as one of the most-talked about reality shows on television.
The antics, mannerisms and controversial moves displayed by the housemates, as well as the catfights and blossoming romance, became major talking points on social media, season after season.
The ongoing reunion show was expected to come with a lot of drama, and it has lived up to expectations. Things got off to an exciting start as the former housemates from last year showed up looking eager to serve things hot.
In one of the episodes, Dorathy Bachor shocked many when she stated that she had performed oral sex on another contestant, BrightO, while in the house. According to Dorathy, the next day, BrightO did not speak with her. He later took to his Twitter page to state that his private part got swollen after the encounter, so he decided to stay away from her.
Meanwhile, Ka3na also stated that she ‘lured’ Praise into her bed to have sex and that he did not last for more than five seconds.
In the sixth episode of the reunion show, there was an altercation between Lucy and Kaisha. Kaisha had alleged that her mother wanted to take a picture with Ka3na and had sent some people to her but Ka3na allegedly asked Kaisha’s mother to come to her table for the picture, which Kaisha found disrespectful. In the course of the argument, Kaisha threw a pillow at Lucy, and the latter retaliated with a slap.
With all the intrigues, it was not surprising that the show dominated discourse on various social media platforms, with Nigerians discussing the incidents that transpired in the reunion.
It is not news that over the years fan bases were created, and even after housemates had left the Big Brother house, fans kept following their moves and defending their favourites at every given opportunity.
The show also serves as a springboard of sorts for the future careers of contestants. Former housemates have gone on to become successful actors, models, entrepreneurs and media influencers. A perfect example is Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, who participated as a housemate in 2006, and has been the host of the show since 2017.
Indeed, the progression of events on the show is proof of MultiChoice’s commitment to provide premium content to its subscribers. Copyright PUNCH.
