A report by SaharaReporters has shown that the Nigerian Army soldiers and policemen in a joint operation to raid the house of an Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, shot dead his Personal Assistant, identified as Samuel Uzo Okoro, also known as Biggy, and burnt his corpse in the lawyer’s car.
SaharaReporters learnt that the burnt car, a 2013 Toyota Camry, including Okoro’s burnt corpse were discovered on Monday at Okacha Junction, Neni in the Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State by passersby to the shock of residents of the area.
SaharaReporters learnt that the red Toyota car containing the corpse was burnt by the NHSS Tactical Team – the joint name for the army, police and Department of State Services operatives which attacked the house.
The NHSS Tactical Team answers directly to Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba.
A civil organisation, the International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law in an update sent to SaharaReporters on Tuesday said that the burning took place “about 30 minutes after the invading killer security operatives left the family house of Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor at Oraifite in the Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State and headed to the Anambra State Police Command headquarters at Awka.”
Intersociety said, “We had earlier informed the world that four innocent citizens involving the lawyer’s elder brother, Joel Ejiofor, driver, Elder Felix Emeka Okonkwo who is 55 years of age; the lawyer’s gardener and compound sweeper, Lawrence Ugochukwu Okafor, 20 and gateman, Ikenna Chibuike, 35; were abducted and taken away after the Gestapo invasion and attack.
“The duo of the gardener and the gateman had lived in the lawyer’s family house at Oraifite for years while his driver and personal assistant lived with him in his Abuja residence. The fifth citizen, Samuel Uzo Okoro, the 43-year-old lawyer’s Personal Assistant for many years, was shot and killed on the premises of the lawyer’s family house and Joel Ejiofor, his elder brother was abducted.
“Joel was later pushed out at Ojoto Community from one of the fifteen Hilux vans with which they invaded the family house and had since returned home.
“Consequently, Intersociety is putting the United Nations Rights bodies, the International Criminal Court, the United States, the international human rights bodies and human rights research institutions; local and international media on notice. It saddens our heart that the above named institutions and bodies have kept quiet and slumbered, watching and allowing the country’s political administrators and security forces to steadily, deeply, gravely, maddeningly and rapaciously turn the state’s instruments of violence against defenseless and unarmed population particularly the Christian citizens of Old Eastern and Mid Western Nigeria.”
