Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, says there will be no more Nigeria if his Benue State counterpart, Samuel Ortom, is assassinated.
Wike also said the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), and his All Progressives Congress will be held responsible if Ortom is killed.
Wike stated this while reacting to attempt on Ortom’s life by gunmen who trailed him to a river bank in Tyo Mu along Makurdi-Gboko Road in the Makurdi Local Government Area of Benue State on Saturday.
Wike, in a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Media, Kelvin Ebiri, said, “If you kill Ortom, then be prepared to bury Nigeria. If anything happens to Governor Ortom, the Federal Government will be held responsible and they should be prepared that there will be no more Nigeria.”
Wike also described as disturbing, the growing trend where the life of incumbent governors are brazenly threatened.
The Rivers governor recalled how the former General Officer Commanding 6 Division of the Nigerian Army in Port Harcourt, Major General Jamil Sarham, and some APC chieftains had allegedly concluded plan to assassinate him during the 2019 general election.
