A French court on Monday convicted ex-president, Nicolas Sarkozy on charges of corrupt practices and influence peddling.
The court formerly handed him a three-year prison sentence, thereafter, suspended two and left the former president with a year jail term.
In exchange for inside information on an inquiry into his campaign finances, Nikolas was accused of requesting to assist a judge in obtaining a top job in Monaco.
With the two-year suspended, what it means is that the sentence of one year jail now seems unlikely Sarkozy will physically go to prison, due to reason that punishment in France usually applies to jail terms of above two years.
