Manchester City on Wednesday, recorded their 15th straight win in all competitions, a mark no other English top-flight club had previously managed.
Pep Guardiola’s men beat Swansea 3-1 to qualify for the FA Cup quarter-final.
In doing so, City extended their winning run to 15 games in all competitions, one more than Preston’s in 1892 and Arsenal’s winning streak in 1987.
City began their winning run with a 1-0 win over Southampton in the Premier League on December 19.
A disappointing 1-1 draw at The Etihad to West Brom on December 15, was the last time Guardiola’s team failed to win in any competition.
Since that setback City have triumphed in 10 consecutive Premier League matches to soar up the table, where they now enjoy a five-point advantage over rivals Manchester United having played one game fewer.
