Arsenal on Friday confirmed that Australian goalkeeper, Mat Ryan, has joined the club on loan from Brighton ahead of their FA Cup clash with Southampton on Saturday.

The Gunners disclosed this in a statement via its website on Friday.

The statement read: “Mat Ryan joins on loan until end of season

“Australian goalkeeper Mat Ryan is joining us on loan for the remainder of the season from Brighton & Hove Albion.”

Ryan, 28, has made 124 international appearances for his country since he joined Brighton in 2017.

Reacting, Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, said: “We know Mat very well through his performances with Brighton in recent seasons, and he brings additional quality to our squad.

“Mat has very good Premier League experience and has played over 100 times in the league, which is something that will benefit us greatly on and off the pitch. We welcome Mat to Arsenal and look forward to working with him this season.”
