Former Military Administrator of Benue, Kano States, Aminu Kontagora, Dies Of COVID-19 Complications

Aminu Isa Kontagora, former Military Administrator of Kano and Benue states, is dead. He died on Sunday night after a brief illness at a hospital in Abuja.

ChannelsTv quoted a close family member, as saying the former military administrator died of COVID-19 related complications.

According to the family source, he will be buried today, Monday in line with the Islamic injunction.

Sulaiman Musa Ahmed, another family member confirm his death in a statement.

“It is with a very heavy heart but with total submission to the will of ALLAH (SWT) that we announce the passing away of Col. Aminu Isa Kontagora, RTD.

“Col. Aminu Kontagora served as Former Military Governor of Benue and Kano state.

“He served the party in numerous capacities; the last of which was Chairman, Security sub – committee for the PDP National campaign council for Ondo state Governorship Election 2020. Until his passing away, he was also the Chairman of the PDP Elders Council in Niger State.

“In line with Islamic injunction, the burial prayer will take place by 1pm at An Nur Mosque under very strict compliance with COVID-19 protocols.

“May ALLAH grant his soul Aljannatu Firdaus and Comfort those left behind to mourn the loss.”

Born in 1956, Colonel Aminu Isa Kontagora was Administrator of Benue State, from August 1996 to August 1998 during the military regime of General Sani Abacha.

He was also the Administrator of Kano State from September 1998 to May 1999, under the transitional regime of General Abdulsalami Abubakar.

He handed over power to the then elected executive governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso on 29 May 1999.
