Oye Ibidapo-Obe, a former vice-chancellor of the University of Lagos, has died at the age of 71.
His death was confirmed in a statement by the Registrar and Secretary to the Council of First Technical University, Olayinka Balogun, on Sunday, January 3.
According to Premium Times, sources revealed he died from COVID-19 complications.
“Yes, Prof Ibidapo-Obe is dead. He died today from COVID-19-related complications. The late professor’s family has properly briefed us,” the chairman of the Academic Union of Nigerian Universities (ASUU) on the campus, Dele Ashiru, was quoted as saying.
