After denying endorsing a billing seeking to regulate social media, a Nigerian lawmaker has been exposed.

A video has now surfaced reportedly showing Lagos lawmaker, Desmond Elliot speaking in support of the regulation.

Recall we reported earlier that the lawmaker was dragged on Twitter by Nigerians for allegedly supporting an anti-social media bill.

In the heat of the Twitter backlash, the thespian quickly took to Instagram and denied the allegation of being one of those pushing for an anti-social media bill to stifle free speech.

Reacting to the lawmaker’s denial of the allegation, a Twitter influencer and medical doctor, Dr Olufunmilayo challenged him to let the whole world see the video of what he said about social media regulation.

Recall Nigerian music heavyweight, Davido had also reacted to the said news, wherein he agreed that Desmond Elliot is a proof that a youth could be President and still fail Nigerians.

Well, Nigerians have finally dug out video of the lawmaker speaking about the need to do something about social media before it ruins Nigeria.

“In the next five years, there will be no Nigeria if we don’t act now”, he said in the video.

He also complained bitterly about how children cursed politicians on social media without iota of respect. Culture has gone”, he lamented.

He also seized the opportunity to plead with Nigerian celebrities, social media influencers and motivational speakers to “tune down on the hate narrative.”
