…Says he is working to end their cry

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has lauded Imo workers and pensioners whose salaries and pensions have been delayed for their patience and perseverance, saying that soon the problems will be sorted out and they will laugh again.

The Governor made the heartwarming promise at the end of Church Service at the Government House Chapel Owerri, maintaining that he is determined to ensure that genuine workers and pensioners no longer cry over their rights.

He informed that government has also discovered that most of the workers and pensioners were using the Micro Finance Banks that don’t issue BVN and as such appealed to such workers and pensioners to urgently change to commercial banks.

The governor promised that in the interim, the government is working to see how genuine workers and pensioners among those complaining that they have not received alert can be paid manually while waiting for the right thing to be done.

He therefore advised those who consider themselves as genuine workers and pensioners to take their particulars and complaints to their Unions for proper documentation and channeling to government for immediate attention.

The governor did not mince words in reiterating that all workers who have long colluded with others with criminal intents to defraud Government huge sums of money through salary padding and self-promotion to cadres they don’t belong in order to earn salaries they don’t deserve, must surely pay back the excesses to government.

Governor Uzodimma said he has a covenant with God to do the right thing in office and is irrevocably committed to doing the right thing.

Governor Uzodimma re-emphasized that government is determined to continue with the automation of salaries of workers and pensioners, insisting that it is the in-thing all over the world today of which Imo State cannot be an exception.

He wondered how our primary schools would have a population of teachers whose number is almost more than that of the pupils they teach, saying that an insight into the payroll of primary school teachers has revealed unbelievably large number of ghost teachers.

To help check the menace, the governor therefore charged the Traditional Rulers in Imo State to get involved in the activities of the primary schools in their communities and inform government of areas of improvement and shortcomings of such schools as it concerns infrastructure, academic standards and performance of the pupils.

The governor enjoined Imolites to imbibe the vision of Government of Shared Prosperity, insisting that all efforts are geared towards serving Imo people better and helping the State to grow.

The Governor who read the Second Lesson from the book of Romans 8: 18-23 used the opportunity of the Church Service to congratulate the Government House Chaplain, Rev. Fr. Raph Madu on his 37th year ordination anniversary.

Present at the Church Service were the Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prof. Placid Njoku, the Speaker Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chiji Collins, members of the State Executive Council, Traditional Rulers and others.
