Janet Hauwa Kukah, the mother of Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Hassan Kukah, is dead.
President Muhammadu Buhari, in a statement by his spokesman, Garba Shehu, prayed the almighty God to grant the soul of the departed eternal rest.
Other prominent Nigerians have sent their condolences to the outspoken cleric.
Former Senate President, Bukola Saraki prayed that “the Almighty receives her soul and strengthens you all through this difficult time”.
The Northern Governors Forum, through its Chairman and Plateau Governor, Simon Lalong, described her exit as a great loss.
“We share in this hour of grief over the departure of Mama Janet, who lived an exemplary life and also demonstrated the fear of God and respect for humanity throughout her life”, Lalong noted.
On Sunday, former Kwara Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed, said the death mother is especially painful.
He tweeted: “My thoughts and prayers are with the Kukah family at this difficult period as I beseech God to comfort them and grant the departed eternal peace”.
