A group of Arewa Youths have stormed the streets of Katsina state protesting the incessant killings and Banditry going in the state.

NEWS DIRECT learned that the youths, who carried placards with inscriptions like “Do the needful before the finish us”, criticized President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Aminu Masari over the gross insecurity in the state.

Meanwhile, Masari has lamented his failure to protect the people of Katsina from bandits who continuously ravage and kill residents. He described the bandits as “animals who kill indiscriminately,” and expressed sadness as residents of the state have never had rest since he was elected as Governor.

In a state of melancholy, Masari said; “I don’t know what to tell them. I cannot look at them in the face because we have failed to protect them, contrary to our pledge to ensure the security of lives and property throughout the state.

“I never expected the behaviour and the attitude of people living in the forests, the bandits, whose behaviour is worse than that of animals. In the forest, a lion or a tiger kills only when it is hungry and it doesn’t kill all animals, it only kills the one it can eat at a time.”

“But what we see here is that bandits come to town, spray bullets, kill indiscriminately for no purpose and no reason whatsoever, like the recent massacre of people at Faskari and parts of Dandume local government area. They just killed the people. How can a human being behave the way an animal cannot behave?” he said.

The Protests are coming a few days after the Northern Elders Forum led by Ango Abdullahi attacked President Muhammadu Buhari over the rising insecurity in the North.

As at the time of filing this report, the protesters have been dispersed by the Katsina state police command.
