Former Chelsea and Tottenham striker, Eidur Gudjohnsen, says that Chelsea will need to put up their best-ever performance to eliminate Real Madrid from the UEFA Champions League.
After a lacklustre showing at Santiago Bernabeu, the Blues enter the second leg of their quarterfinal match tonight [Tuesday] at Stamford Bridge having to overcome a 2-0 deficit. And Gudjohnsen believes it will take something remarkable for Frank Lampard’s team to turn the tie around.

“If Chelsea can turn the tie around then it would have to be up there with their greatest results,” Gudjohnsen said, as reported by Mirror Football.
“This is Real Madrid they are up against, the reigning European champions and a club trying to win the trophy for the 15th time. So to turn things around after losing the first leg 2-0 is a huge task for them.”
Gudjohnsen added: “Chelsea must not allow themselves to become desperate. They have to stay in the game for as long as possible – and that means not conceding an early goal. If they can keep Madrid out in the first 45 minutes then they have a chance of turning it around.
“It’s not impossible. No one gave us a chance when we played Barcelona at Stamford Bridge in 2005.
“Yet we were 3-0 up after 20 minutes and went on to win 4-2 on the night and 5-4 on aggregate.
“Chelsea have to hope they can produce another night like that. ”
