Spain could have taken the lead in the 8th minute but Germany goalkeeper, Manuel Neuer pulled out a brilliant save to prevent Dani Olmo from scoring.

They also had another goal scoring opportunity in the 22nd minutes when Jordi Alba tried to score from outside the penalty box. Unfortunately his effort went outside the frame of the goal post.

However, despite the Spanish team controlling possession, Germany netted the opening goal through Anthony Rudiger in the 40th minute only for the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) to cancelled the goal for offside.

The deadlock was finally broken in the 63rd minute through substitute, Alvaro Morata to the delight of the Spanish supporters.
