Lookman Touts Atalanta ‘Work on The Pitch’ In Win Against Monza

Nigeria winger, Ademola Lookman, has been touting his team, Atalanta’s impressive ‘work on the pitch’ in their away win against Monza in Serie A on Monday, Completesports.com reports.

Atalanta defeated Monza 2-0 on September 5 at the Stadio Brianteo to move to the top of the Serie A table on 13 points from five games, two points ahead of second and third-placed Napoli and AC Milan, on 11 points apiece.

Rasmus Hojlund scored the first goal of the game in the 57th minute from a Lookman assist. Monza’s Marlon Santos scored an own-goal eight minutes later, deflecting Lookman’s goal-bound shot into the net.

Speaking to Atalanta’s YouTube channel, Lookman says that Atalanta played better in the second half.

“I think we created a lot more chances in the second half and we played a lot better and yeah we won the game,” Lookman said.

“Yeah I’m enjoying it, it’s tough football, but I’m adapting and every single day I’m working hard to be better.

“I think it’s my goal, once again I say it’s my goal. But you know the most important is that we got the points and we’re first.

“Yeah that’s the most important thing, we’re winning games and we’re there. I think it’s a testament to our work on the pitch.”

There is however a bit of confusion as regards the scorer of Atalanta’s second goal. While Serie A recorded it as an own-goal by Marlon Santos on its Social Media platforms, Lookman claimed it was his goal. Atalanta also credited it to their new forward on their Social Media platforms during the match.

While celebrating Atalanta’s win at Monza, Lookman took to his Twitter and Instagram platform to also claim the goal, but put a question mark on it, urging Serie A to verify it.

“3 points, Goal and Assist, not a
bad Monday. Forza Atalanta!
@seriea Definitely my goal??,” Lookaman’s Twitter and Instagram posts read.

Lookman scored on his debut for Atlanta – in the 2-0 away win against Sampdoria and also has two assists to his credit so far – in a 3-1 home win against Torino and the latest against Monza.
