‘Reasons Many Clubs Want To Sign Aribo’ –Ex-Scotland Midfielder, Ferguson

Former Scotland international, Barry Ferguson, has lauded Rangers midfielder, Joe Aribo’s top quality amidst transfer speculations linked to the Nigeria midfielder this summer window.

Aribo has been linked to various clubs like Fulham, Southampton, Aston Villa amongst others following his impressive performances last season.

Aribo scored nine goals and recorded 10 assists from 57 games for Rangers last season. He netted eight goals and six assists from 34 appearances in the Scottish Premiership last season. He also scored one goal and registered three assists in the Europa League, has one assist to his name in the League Cup.

The 25 year old has scored two goals and made one assist in 20 appearances for Nigeria’s Super Eagles.

He played an incredible 71 games for club and country combined during the season.

In an interview with Go Radio, former Rangers’ midfielder, Ferguson, stressed that Aribo has been a versatile player for the Gers.

“I can see why they’re interested in him. He’s a top midfielder and has grown into being a top midfielder,” Ferguson told Go Radio.

“I thought the first half of the season, he was the best player in Scotland.

“He went away to the Africa Cup Of Nations and his form slightly dipped when he came back.

“For me, he’s a top-level player and I’m not surprised there’s a number of clubs- Crystal Palace , Nottingham Forest, Aston Villa, now Southampton – that will be a worry for the Rangers fans because you want to keep your top quality players.

“But again money talks. Every player has a valuation and I think if that valuation- with Aribo going into the last year of his deal is met and he doesn’t want to commit to Rangers,then they might need to do business.

“He’s a player I think Rangers are trying to get on a longer-term contract .

“The beauty of Aribo is he can play anywhere across the midfield. But we just have to wait and see.

“I’m not surprised by the performances he’s put in for Rangers, domestically and certainly in Europe.”

Rangers finished second in the Scottish Premiership last term with 89 points after 38 games.
