In this report , Complete Sports highlights five Nigerian footballers whose market values at different European clubs have plummeted, according to recent appraisals published by Transfermarkt.

Alex IWOBI (Everton – From €32.00m to €25.50m)

The former Arsenal forward arrived Everton on a celebrated €30million move last season but failed to impress in his first season for the Toffees.

And due to his dismal showing for the Goodison Park outfit, The Nigerian ‘s highest market value which previously stood at €32.00m at September 12, 2019 has dropped significantly to €25.50m of recent.

The 24-year old will need to up his game this season to shore up his value as well as keep his shirt in Everton’s starting eleven.

Henry ONYEKURU (Monaco – From €13.00m to €6.00m)

The pacy Nigeria international whose highest market value once stood at €13.00m in June 4, 2019 has seen his value dropped drastically to €6.00m of recent.

Onyekuru who sealed a 5-year deal with Monaco at the start of last season struggled in the French Ligue 1 which led to the former Everton player being shipped back on loan to Galatasaray for the rest of last season.

The 23-year old is now back with Monaco and seems on the way to giving a better account of himself having featured in Monaco’s two games of the new season.

Ola AINA (Torino – From €10.00m to €7.00m)

The skillful defender who plays as right-back has seen his market value drop to €7.00m recently from previous highest market value which stood at €10.00m as at June 6, 2019.
The former Chelsea player has remained a regular feature since arriving Torino on loan in August 2018 which prompted the Italian Serie A side to buy the Nigerian over permanently in June 2019.
The 23-year old’s drop in value is probably tied more to Torino’s status as a modest team in the Serie A rather than Aina’s performances which has been impressive so far.

William TROOST-EKONG (Udinese – From €4.00m to €3.20m)

The Nigeria international centre-back has remained the backbone of Udinese’s defence since arriving the modest Italian Serie A club in August 2018.

Despite his consistent displays for Udinese in the past two seasons however, Troost-Ekong has seen his highest market value which stood at €4.00m in December 20, 2018 drop slightly to €3.20m of recent.

The 26-year old who is still tied to Udinese on contract till 2023 has also remained a constant feature for the Super Eagles.

Victor MOSES (Chelsea – From €20.00m to €6.00m)

The former Nigeria international who once had his highest market value at €20.00m in May 28, 2018 has seen his value drop consistently and now alarmingly to €6.00m of recent.

Since losing his starting place at Chelsea after the 2012/13 season, the former Wigan star had been shipped on loan to several clubsides including Liverpool, Stoke City, West Ham, Fenerbahce and currently Inter Milan.

The 29-year old versatile player’s drop in value, aside from age factor, appears coincidental to his calling time on his duty with Nigerian national team – the Super Eagles, in August 2018 after featuring at the FIFA World Cup in Russia.
