A few Nigerian players such as central defender, Kenneth Omeruo and attacking midfielder, Kelechi Nwakali have expressed their readiness for the new season in spain, Completesports.com reports.

Action across Europe’s top 5 leagues is set to get back underway next month with strict contingency measures still in place due to the on-going coronavirus pandemic.

And just like the English Premier League, the 2020/21 Spanish La Liga Santander campaign is set to kick off on September 12 while it comes to an end on May 23, 2021.

Omeruo despite the fact that Leganes suffered relegation from the La Liga Santander into the Segunda division churned out great performances all through the season.

The 26-year-old in spite of injuries started 22 of his 23 Spanish top-flight games in the just concluded season where he had a goal and five yellow cards to his name.

Omeruo is on Levante’s transfer radar as the summer window continues. The Super Eagles central defender wrote on Instagram alongside a picture of himself: “Back to work.”

Compatriot, Nwakali took to the social media to express his readiness for the new season, posting on his Instagram handle: “Getting everything ready for the season.”

Nwakali believes it is the beginning of a new chapter for him in his football career after helping his club, SD Huesca to secure promotion into the La Liga Santander.

Apart from moving into the Spanish top-flight from the second division, Huesca also won the Segunda SmartBank title after beating Sporting Gijon 1-0 away in the final game.

Nwakali played the entire game which was his fifth appearance of the 2019/20 season as Huesca beat Gijon away from home to record a dramatic takeover of the title from Cadiz.
