In its effort to develop the state industrially, the state government ensures that incentives such as easy availability of land and industrial estates, equity participation in viable projects and basic infra structure in sites and services e.g. water, electricity, etc. are provided. As already indicated, the state is endowed with livestock, poultry and fish, which are good for industries specialising in dairy, hides and skin, bonemill, shoe making and fish canning.

Other potentialities include limestone, gypsum, marble, lignite, kaolin, feldspar, and phosphate at Sokoto, Bodinga, and Silame. Also available are clay and auriferous sand at Sokoto, Wurno and Gwadabawa. These are used in the production of cement, chalk, tiles, pottery, ceramics, bricks and fertiliser. The Sokoto Investment Company Limited is charged with the responsibility of regulating the industrial sector of the state's economy.

To this end, the agency has floated and reactivated several companies. Similarly, in line with its industrialisation policy, the state plans to set up industrial zones in each of the twenty three local government areas. In addition to these, there are a number of commercial and finance houses in the state.
