A while ago, we complained about the lack of collaborations between female artists in the Nigerian music industry, and shortly after, we got a flush of them, ranging from Tiwa Savage and Di’ja on “The Way You Are” to Yemi Alade and Waje on “I’m Available”.
Now, we’ve come across an old collaboration between two of our favourite female artists, Seyi Shay and Niniola: the catchy and energetic “Juba (Bow Down)“.
“Juba” was released during the peak of Seyi Shay’s career, and was the first single she dropped following her critically acclaimed debut album, Seyi or Shay. At this time, Niniola was still a rising star, and hadn’t even dropped her game-changing breakout song, “Maradona”.
On the house-influenced track, both singers bring their A game, bragging about their skills and proclaiming that their names alone command respect. While this was ambitious at the time for both artists, it certainly came to fruition for Niniola, as she is now a force to be reckoned with.
