SP. Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the police public relations officer, provided a statement to newsmen confirming this.
62-year-old Bamuwa Umaru of Shika town, Sabon Gari LGA, Kaduna State, contacted the officer on Tuesday and gave him one million naira (N1,000,000:00) as a bribe to secure the release of accused kidnapper Yusuf Ibrahim, who was 27 at the time, according to Kiyawa.
The suspect admitted to the crime and was responsible for other kidnappings that occurred in the villages of Sheme, Yankara, Faskari, and Kucheri in the states of Katsina and Zamfara.
He claimed that roughly ten (10) of their victims had been murdered by the syndicate.
