The Kogi State Police Command has detained a guy who has not yet been identified for allegedly killing Kehinde Ajayi and burying the body at Ajayi’s house in the Lokoja region of the state.

According to information obtained, the middle-aged suspect killed Ajayi on Sunday, July 24, 2022, and then covertly buried his body at his home.

According to a source who spoke to our correspondent, the victim purchased a Toyota Sienna with the license plate LSD 228 HJ, and the suspect allegedly enticed him to a local celebration spot to mark the occasion.

The victim was never seen again, according to the source, after Ajayi, the suspect, and a few other people departed for the scene.

Ajayi’s family, while lamenting over his whereabouts, were said to have reported a case of a missing person at the nearest police station.

However, an investigation into Ajayi’s disappearance in the community reportedly led to the arrest of one of his friends who gave useful information as to what happened to him.

The source revealed that after the suspect allegedly killed Ajayi, he went away with his car, adding that on Monday, he took policemen to his house, and showed them the location where he buried Ajayi’s corpse.

However, some youth who were angered by the development started vandalizing the suspect’s house after the police exhumed Ajayi’s corpse.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Ayah, confirmed the incident.

He said, “The body of late Ajayi has been recovered and investigation is still on to arrest others who might have been involved in his killing.”
