President Muhammadu Buhari has stated that he wishes for his successor to continue in his footsteps in terms of security and the economy.

He also claimed that until May 2023, when he relinquishes power, his regime would continue to do its best for the country’s development.

Mr Buhari restated his commitment to handing up authority in accordance with the Constitution.

“I know I swore by the Constitution, and I will leave in 17 months. I pray that the person that will take over from us will also follow the targets of securing the country and building the economy,” th dictator-turned-democratic president stated. “Without securing the country, you cannot grow the economy.”

The president provided the guarantee at the inauguration of Oriental Energies Resource Ltd Hanger, Muhammadu Indimi Distance Learning Centre, and an International Conference Centre, according to presidential media adviser Femi Adesina.

Muhammadu Indimi, a business magnate, donated the centre to the University of Maiduguri on Thursday.

Mr Buhari also dedicated the Tijjani Bolori Memorial Secondary School and the Custom Roundabout (3.5km), the first flyover in Borno, as well as a stretch of 10km Gamboru Ngala Road built by the state government.

Mr Buhari also stated that Nigerians should evaluate his administration’s performance in terms of security, economics, and corruption before and after he took office.

“We have a great country,” asserted Mr Buhari, “and we thank God for giving us so much resources. But we need to develop our resources.”

The president stated that empowering the people would make development more sustainable.

On security in the North West, he expressed regret that people who had lived together for a long time and had the same culture and philosophy were kidnapping and killing one another.

He claims that, having purchased more weaponry, the military will come down hard on the North-West in order to stabilize the situation.
