In Ogun State, a herdsman, simply identified as Mohammed, was apprehended carrying one AK-47 weapon.
On Tuesday, he was apprehended in the CAC Oha woodland, Iwoye-Ketu, Imeko-Afon Local Government Area of the state.
On Wednesday, Abimbola Oyeyemi, a police public relations officer, said that the suspect was apprehended after the Imeko police division’s Divisional Police Officer (DPO) got information that “two young Fulani youths were observed inside the forest, one of them carrying an AK-47 gun.”
According to the information, the DPO mobilized his men, who attacked the forest alongside local security agents like as hunters, vigilantes, and members of the So-Safe corps.
“After hours of combing the forest, Mohammed was seen hiding in the bush with one AK-47 rifle, and he was promptly arrested.
“The arrested armed boy is strongly suspected to be a member of kidnap syndicates who have been terrorizing the area for quite some time now,” Oyeyemi stated.
Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun, has ordered that the suspect be moved to the State CIID in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation, adding that the entire forest be properly combed in order to arrest other members of his gang.
