Barcelona startled football fans and pundits on Thursday by announcing Lionel Messi’s departure this summer.

Messi’s departure comes a year after he attempted to force his way out of Camp Nou.

The 34-year-old, on the other hand, will almost certainly leave Barca this time.

The availability of Lionel Messi opens up the summer transfer market.

In reality, only three clubs are likely to be able to pay him: Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City, and Chelsea.

He will reunite with Neymar, who departed Barcelona in 2017, at PSG. The two forwards won the LaLiga title twice and the Champions League once during their four seasons together.

If he joins City, he will once again be managed by Pep Guardiola. Both men also spent four years working together. Messi won four of his six Ballon d’Or awards while playing for Guardiola at the Camp Nou.

Chelsea may also have a chance to sign the Argentine captain. Prior to his first full season at Stamford Bridge, Thomas Tuchel wants to improve his attack. The Blues have been connected with Erling Haaland of Borussia Dortmund and Romelu Lukaku of Inter Milan.
