He urged Muslim faithfuls to stress the messages of peace, love and national unity and also to use the period for sober reflection, self-discipline and sacrifice as the fasting period begins across the Islamic world.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Ola Awoniyi, titled ‘Senate President urges peace, national unity and prayers for Nigeria during Ramadan.’
“I urge us to remember our dear country in our prayers as we seek to overcome the challenges we are facing as a nation.
“I enjoin us to stress the importance of peace, love, generosity and unity in our teachings during this sacred period.
“We should also not let down our guards in the observance of COVID-19 non-pharmaceutical protocols in our spiritual and other activities during the Holy Month,” Lawan said.
The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs had yesterday announced that Ramadan has been announced to start in the country on Tuesday, April 13 by the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs .
