One of Nigeria’s controversial governors, Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, on Tuesday, sacked his commissioner for Environment, Dr. Igbiks Tamuno.

He announced the removal of the commissioner during a media conference called tagged ‘Soot and air quality in Rivers State’

The conference was called by  the Ministry of Environment in conjunction with the Stakeholders Democracy Network. It was aimed at giving an update on the deadly pollution occasioned by carbon emissions known as soot.

After reading his press statement, Mr Tamuno got a call from Mr Wike.

“The governor directed the sacked commissioner to submit all government documents and property in his possession to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Environment,” the statement read.
