Mr Olayiwola Adeleke, the caretaker chairman of Iganna Local Council Development Area of Oyo State, has regained freedom.
Adeleke was freed with his driver who was also kidnapped on Sunday night.
The Police Public Relations Officer in Oyo State, Mr Olugbenga Fadeyi, confirmed the development to our correspondent on Saturday morning.
He said, “They have been released and they have reunited with their families. They were freed on Friday night.”
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Chucks Enwonwu, had on Wednesday said the police were making efforts to rescue them.
