Mass looting: Sack IGP now, HURIWA tells Buhari

Against the backdrop of mass looting and destruction of public and private properties in some parts of the country by hoodlums, foremost rights advocacy group, the Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria, HURIWA, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to relieve Inspector General of Police, Muhammad Adamu of his job, without further delay.

The group chided Mr Adamu for allegedly failing to provide adequate security at warehouses where palliatives were stored by state governments for the people. In a statement made available to Vanguard, national coordinator of the group, Emmanuel Onwubiko said the shameful vandalization of public institutions and private homes has exposed the Nigeria Police Force as an institution lacking professionalism and discipline.

Samsung chairman, Lee Kun-Hee is dead

Lee Kun-Hee, Samsung’s Electronics chairman is dead. Lee died at the age of 78 on Sunday. The company announced his demise in a statement. It said Lee passed away with his family, including Vice Chairman, Jay Y. Lee, by his side.

“Chairman Lee was a true visionary who transformed Samsung into the world-leading innovator and industrial powerhouse from a local business,” Samsung said.

The firm’s turnover is equivalent to a fifth of the gross domestic product of South Korea, the world’s 12th largest economy.

Lee would be remembered for turning the brand into a global giant.

The deceased’s son, Samsung Electronics vice chairman, Lee Jae-Yong, has been running the company since his 2014 heart attack.

Thugs Attack NAFDAC Office, Cart Away Fake And Expired Drugs

Suspected thugs have attacked the office of the National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control in Kaduna State, carting away seized fake and expired drugs and beverages.

The drugs were seized from illicit drug dealers and meant for destruction. Meanwhile, the Kaduna State Government has warned of health risk from drugs and beverages looted from the NAFDAC office and other warehouses in the state capital.

Commissioner for Internal Security, Samuel Aruwan, in a statement said the looted items including expired, prohibited and dangerous drugs, posed a great danger to the health of the people and therefore warned that persons, who consume such drugs are at great risk of serious illness and death.

Hoodlums attack APC council Secretariat in Delta

Hoodlums operating under the guise of the #ENDSARS protest, over the weekend invaded the headquarters of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Udu local government area of Delta State destroying and carting away office items in the building.

The secretariat which is located in a rented property in Udu town was allegedly invaded by the hoodlums who carted away unspecified items and tried to also raze down the building less for the timely intervention of good Samaritans in the area.
