OH! Help me! Help me!
Culture I am called
I am dying of utter neglect
Who will help me?
Where lies my hope?
Where lies the remedy?
My children have neglected
Their beautiful Aso oke, George, Atampa
For the whiteman’s suits, miniskirts
And skimpy tops
They preferred industrial condiments
To my nutritious Abula, Ogbono and Edikaikan
No longer do they want to dance
My melodious gangan, goje, and wooden gong
To pop and ragga
They twist their bodies
Children are the custodian of my heritage
The inheritors of my values
What man is without his own?
Time’s wing chariot is hurrying near
Lets safeguard our cultural values now!
