HhORIN OMINIRA - SONG OF AUTONOMY (for Nigeria)
****
....
Upon space of bowel soil
Millions feet of beings sojourn
Upon bowed and weathered heads
Nation with trajectories dwells.
There in 1960 days
Have you built your glowing rays
Giant of the raven race
Envied by the negrioid gaze.
Ah, that bright your forthright crown
Gentle sheen your lusters are
Ah, your surfaced elegant
Glittering in a virtuous pride .
From the Grove and under spire
Your stars shines like wandering light
From the realm of stunning sky
Your glows glints from pedestals.
Greenish land and stunning arches
Makes it mighty to defy
Precious heart and kingdoms grand
Genial laid on silky sand.
When the mountain roses nod
And the parrot sung with song
When in gathered hubris call
Let us rise oh compatriot.
Of our passion in accord
Thoughtless ones may call it dull
Our roars of anthem thud
Of our beauty toned with gloss.
Whether woman, man or child
Whether youth and ancient apt
Of their bares of cordial heart
Does not falter, halt or swerve.
In the thugs or desert land
Fiercely we duly stands
On the trims of strutted strive
We still cruise and duly thrive.
Charming pride of coat of arms
Soaring high with eagle's vibe
Grounding down her blemish days
Claiming spot of magistrate.
Boundless heads of compatriot
Pledged to lift this nation's call
Milky land of honey's twin
Nigeria my living dream.
Golden land of liberty
Flagging flair of noble glee
Striking land of jollity
Nigeria — untamed pristine.
Cloying like an enthrallment
Galling gays of hemisphere
Comforting for placid bears
Nigeria; the inks i thread.
Matchless art and kindless heart
Seamless spirit thereabouts
No where else can it be found
Beauty of the landscape craft.
Of empires passed away
Of a glint that never fade
Of a stone that never rust
Of a call of compatriot .
Of the hewn serendipity
Of the cliffs and of the peaks
Of delights and majesties
Of momentum in our deeds.
Let the voices roar aloud
Let the claps and genial sound
Let the blinks of people's eyes
Hailed this patrimonial badge.
We are brains of asterisks
We are men of apogee
We are zodiac Gemini
We are sacred cherubim.
We are sparkling galaxy
Gushing in the heaven's thrill
We are genial unity
Rooting in equality.
We are badge of aptitude
We are routes of fortitude
We are ageless solitude
We are weft of morning dew.
We are jewels of harmony
We are visioned vagary
We are schemed for primacy
We are soils of legendaries.
So why the men without a smile?
Why the feminism strife?
Have we cleaved the glossing fact?
Joyous gross of Africa.
For what plague and for what strive?
For discomfort thereabouts
For a light that never shine
Will for once duly ignite.
For the change we never see
For the pent of anxiety
For dejection threaten 'we'
We condone serenity.
