A NIGHTMARE OF SYMBOLIZE SCENARIOS
a. Mazi Uwadiekwu was angry to see Ejike chasing frogs around
He frowned at him and asked why he was doing that
“You should be at school, Ejike, are you out of your mind?”
“As you can see, dad,” he replied, “These frogs are very fat
Things are very hard and one can’t do without ring”
“Did I hear you well, Ejike, are you bewitched?
Where were you told that you can’t do without bad gang?”
“Dad, we eat frogs to survive, don’t you understand?”
b. Going by the look of things in his family,
Mazi Uwadiekwu felt that Ejike’s actions were right
But on a second thought he saw the need for his duty
He realized that parents do not put evil in good light.
c. He tried like the righteous, to call his son to order
But like wild wind, Agada, the oracle priest, appeared
And gathered all the frogs and toads together
He put all of them into his oracle bag and disappeared.
d. Ejike was very furious, blaming Agada’s action on his father
He walked out on him and rushed to the oracle
Where he saw Agada preparing both frog and toad for supper
“Nnayi Agada,” he said politely, “I am lion of the jungle
Let it please the gods to hearken to my arcane request
I am determined to dine at the table of the gods”
“Welcome my son;” answered Agada, “You are truly ardent
The gods are with you and their table is for people with hard minds.”
e. The supper was highly seasoned, having strong flavor
And Ejike was pleased when a portion was dished out by oracle
It was richly served on high table together with fabulous liquor
And after eating and drinking, he felt very great at the jungle.
f. He was already on his way when he met an oracle attendant
From another village with special assignment from an oracle
His mission was to abduct, working for Apuka, the oracle priest
He had been in great enmity with Agada long in the jungle.
g. Apuka was very happy when Ejike was brought under hypnosis
He revived him with charm and sent him back on deadly assignment
The sword he gave Ejike was mystical and deadly, made of brass
And with it he was able to massacre Agada in a moment.
h. He arrived home with stains of blood from the realm
His father saw him, startled and woke up from dream.
i. Mazi Uwadiekwu was highly troubled by this nightmare
He would neither eat nor drink for fear of uncertainty
And when his wife came, trying to know what the matters were,
He shook his head in perplexity and started to narrate the story.
j. “Mama Ejike,” he began, “This world is mysterious”
“Certainly, my love,” she responded, “Just hit the nail on the head
You refused to eat your food and here you are look timorous
Just tell me what exactly is mysterious about the world.”
k. “Well my dear,” he continued after taking a very deep breath
“I’m thinking maybe we should send for Ejike, he is the problem”
“You mean our eldest son? Is anything wrong with his health?”
“The problem is not health wise, it’s about a dream I had about him.”
