“BEFITTING BURIAL”
The casket is gold and
Preciously clothed in diamonds
Worth just millions.
A great gathering it was
So great that even cows
Battle to have a glimpse of a
Temporary prepared slaughter slab
Hurriedly put in place
For their journey beyond.
It was really befitting burial
Dignitaries gathered,
Dressed in expensive and exciting apparels
In a celebration that robbed mourning
Of his normal inheritance.

It was really a befitting burial
The celebrant,
The luckily bereaved,
Gallantly dresses with smiles,
Accompanied by praise singers,
Staggered to the left and then
Stylishly to the right in an organized
Free flowing rhythmic steps

It was really a befitting burial
And then he said:
Mama deserves more than this.
Dipped his hand in his pocket
Brought out more of the cash
Then that piece of paper fell off.

It was really a befitting burial.
Smartly, I picked it up
But inquisitive forced me to a corner
Against my conscience to read it
But only to my own hearing.
And I read:
“Doctors report,
This is to certify that madam Faith
Died of an illness resulting from shrieked intestine
And dehydration, a sign of MALNUTRITION.”
Sadly, I dropped the paper and
Shamefully, I walked out unnoticed.
