Not many knew Ukeje, until 1995 when in her capacity as Chairman of one of the failed bank tribunal, delievered a landmark, and very controversial judgement that irked some people in government. But that singular action was to demonstrate the kind of person she is, strong-willed, very independent minded and committed to tenets of her profession. By sheer dint of hardwork at 56, she is at present a Chief Judge of Federal High Court, and the first woman in the country to rise to that status.
