The new governor of Lagos State, Mr Babatunde Fashola yesterday resumed work at the Alausa, Ikeja oval house with a promise to run government business on a fast track.
Fashola who was received by hundreds of civil servants at the gate leading to his office at about 10:15a.m. also promised to introduce a mortgage system which will ensure that all civil servants become house owners before their retirement.
He gave the promise during his first official meeting with permanent secretaries numbering about 58 after he resumed.
He tasked them on challenges ahead, stressing that his administration would be a 'quicker and faster run government."
Speaking earlier while addressing workers, who gathered to welcome him, the governor told them that the bar of governance in the state had been raised, noting that it would require extra efforts from everyone for the feat to be surpassed.
Fashola noted that the journey ahead might be tasking and require sacrifice on the part of everyone but promised that brighter days are ahead for everyone in the state.
He cited the example of Dubai as a country which had within a space of 10 years become a tourist and investors delight, assuring everyone that he would make Lagos another Dubai in Africa.
However, he saluted the courage of the people of Lagos, who defied all forms of intimidations and failed to compromise on the determination to enthrone their true leaders, promising that they shall not regret the confidence reposed in him.
Fashola said along with his deputy, Sarah Adebisi Sosan, he was confident and assured that they both represented a combination that would take Lagos to the promise land.
