The young actress, who resides at Ajegunle area of Lagos also bared her mind on how she chose the acting profession.
Educational and family background
I'm a diploma holder and a final year student of LASU. I was born many years ago into the humble family of Mr. Matthew Osieme and Evelyn Osieme. I'm the second child out of eight children-five girls and three boys. We hail from Ovrodo in Isoko North Local Government area of Delta State . In my family, we are not arrogant people rather, we are hardworking and believe in God. Ours is a Christian home.
Sex for a role
Sex for what? No! I would rather die than succumb to such sexual harassment from any producer or director. I cannot just submit my body 'wholesale' to any producer or director because I want to act in a film or play a role. Why should I do that? Our body is the temple of God and we must not defile it just like that. I'm not saying that I'm too holy or I cannot marry a producer or a director . If it is the wish of God, let it come to pass.But there must be love between a producer and myself before allowing his sexual desire to be fulfilled or satisfied through me. I've not been sexually harassed by any producer or director.
One thing I believe is the way you carry yourself really matters. And it does not mean no one had come to me for a relationship in that area. But I know what I want. I believe in God and myself. I don't have to sleep with any producer or director to get a role because the God that has given me the talent will equally make way for me to manifest it. The Bible says the gift of a man makes way for him. That's my foundation.
First experience on the job
I am greatful to Pauly Pam Pam. It was far back in the 1980s. We met in a church. I used to worship with Pauly Pam Pam in the same church . One day told me to act the role of Caro in a drama. That was when I discovered that I could act. Though, during my secondary school days, I discovered I had the flare for acting. In 1999/2000, for the first time, I featured in a home video entitled, Saved by Divine Power.
I played the role of Cynthia. It was an exciting experience. Alhough, I was a little nervous. The imagination that I would soon be a movie star overwhelmed me. I thought I was dreaming until the film was released into the market. And the courage and determination to excel in acting is what is keeping me afloat in the movie industry. I mean my desire to make it in life through acting. At times, I would do my own audition alone in the room. I would pick an imaginary role and act in the room. It could be a drunkard, holy girl, madwoman or pregnant woman.
Advice to upcoming actresses
Believe in yourself. Don't allow yourself to be used by men who will use and dump you. Don't succumb to sex for a role. If you have the talent, use it and excel thereafter. Don't be deceived and don't get demoralized. If you fail in an audition, that is not the end of your career. Keep on trying. A two- minute role can expose you to the world and make you a star.
Movies where I featured
I can't remember all of them. But they are so many. Saved by divine power. Others in the movie include: Stephanie Okereke, Jim Iyke, Ejike Asiegbu, Enebeli Enebuwa etc. Another is Death is a Woman, in which I starred as voice of the village, in Home Breaker I acted as Aduni. Other movies I featured in are "Wasted effort" A nurse, With Love, Alero and Final Point.
