The British Prime Minister, Mr. Tony Blair has declared his country's readiness to work with the incoming administration in Nigeria , saying he looked forward to 'an early meeting" with the new president, Alhaji Umar Yar'Adua 'to begin our discussion on future cooperation".

A press statement signed by presidential spokesperson, Mrs. Remi Oyo and made available to the State House correspondents in Abuja on Thursday quoted the British leader as saying 'we are keen to work with the new administration on reform and governance, democracy, development and other areas of cooperation which we have developed over the last eight years."
' Nigeria has made important progress during your time in office, and I have greatly valued my relationship with you. The continuation of reform by your successor will be extremely important for the UK and other members of the international community," Blair further wrote while wishing President Olusegun Obasanjo his best wishes 'for your last weeks in office".
